“When you’ve lived here almost all your life, you sometimes forget how powerful Jakarta is.
It changes people, it breaks people, it makes people, it shifts values, every single second it comes in touch with them.
Meredefinisi makna rumah, makna keluarga, makna hubungan, makna waktu.
Redefining what matters, and what doesn’t.
Ada yg bilang Jakarta itu, jika diibaratkan dalam sebuah hubungan, adalah seperti pasangan yg abusive, yg selalu menyiksa, membuat kita berulang kali mempertanyakan arti kasih sayang dan cinta, yg menguji kesabaran setiap kali dia memukul kita berulang-ulang, but yet we stay. Yet, we don’t leave.
Karena kota ini sebenarnya menyimpan banyak cerita di setiap sudutnya.
For many of us, Jakarta is not a city. It’s a book full of stories.”

Today I marked my calendar after 5 years 10 days, still choosing this city as my labyrinth of discontent and my place of growth after graduating from university, which turned out that it’s never been a bad choice after all. Maybe next time, I’ll write you some other stories for reasons why I still love this city as much as I love my hometown.
